_strip_basic_auth (_load.py:464-482): user[:pass]@hostname in the netloc becomes hostname.

Note the split semantics Sphinx uses — frags[1].split('@')[1], the second field, not the last — so a netloc containing more than one @ keeps everything after the first one, @s included. Reproduced rather than improved on: this decides what every published link says.
